The Seasons
Every season in Estes
Park and Rocky Mountain
National Park, offers different rewards to those seeking new experiences.
Summer, of course, the most popular season, offers the greatest variety of activities. Hiking, horseback riding, fishing, golf, white-water rafting and boating to name a few. The days are warm and sunny while the nights are cool and clear. Advanced reservations for lodging is highly recommended.
Springtime in the Rockies is unpredictable, which gives it a special charm. You may spend one day on the deck soaking up some high altitude sunshine, the next sitting in front of the fire place watching it snow. The following day you shop for a swimsuit while the melting snow gurgles toward the river, and the next hiking up to Gem Lake for a packed lunch. If you let the weather plan your activities, your trip can be a true adventure.
Fall is a time for wildlife, nature and festivals. The animals are in their prime and the spectacle of the majestic Elk in their mating ritual is a lifetime experience that brings people from around the world. In September, Estes Park hosts the Longs Peak Scottish Highlands Festival, which has become one of the highest rated festivals in the country. Hiking the mountains in the fall is the best, with cool clear days, little rain and fewer people.
Winter in Estes
Park is milder than one would think, and brings a sparkling beauty
that is magical. Colorado Lifestyles magazine has called Rocky
Mountain National Park "The Most Beautiful Place On Earth," in the
winter. Snow shoeing, cross-country skiing and shopping are favorites,
while others come for a romantic get-a-way, retreat, or relaxation. Look
for special lodging packages!
Every season is worth the trip, and the people
of Estes Park and
Rocky Mountain National
Park will always be here to greet you.
