Estes Park Lodging and Visitors Guide
Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky, for short, is over 400 square miles of snow covered peaks, deep lush valleys, clear streams, lakes, alpine tundra, open meadows, thick forest, the bluest sky and wildlife at every turn.
The Park is open all year, and in summer you can drive through the Park on the highest continuous paved highway in North America, Trial Ridge Road. But to truly experience the Park, you need to put on a pair of hiking boots, or snow shoes and pick one of dozens of back-country trails.
Some trails are easy and short while some take you to the mountaintops. A hike to the summit of 14,225 foot high Longs Peak is an experience to last a lifetime.
Other trails are open to horses and there are several liveries to provide horses and guides.
The Park Service maintains several visitor centers where displays and Rangers will help you better understand and appreciate your visit.
